Dyke set England the target of winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as he delivered a forthright assessment of where the national team stands at present.
Hoddle said: “I like what I hear from Greg Dyke - here is a man who is setting targets way beyond his own likely term of office.
“These are goals many years down the road when his time at the FA will have come and gone. He is not putting himself first, he is putting the England team and the game first.
“He is bullish enough to try to change things. That is refreshing, really good. I applaud him for setting targets though I'm unsure about his time-frame.
“But you need targets, business works on targets and he has led big organisations in the past - this is all to the good.”
