Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle has sympathy for Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge over his injury problems.

Sturridge has suffered another setback this week.

"It is bit scary for the lad I must say," Hoddle told talkSPORT. "He's such a talent.

"I've loved him from day one, even when he was at Manchester City. He's learning now and he knows what he wants.

"He's made mistakes in the past and he's learned from them. He just needs to stay fit. Michael Owen struggled with a hamstring problem and that hindered him, although he was a marvelous striker. He tried very hard to get it sorted out.

"Sturridge is young enough [to sort himself out]. He should go and have a word with Ryan Giggs and go and see what he did eventually.

"He needs to do something that's going to prevent these injuries. There will be a problem there, it doesn't just happen.

"You need to identify the problem and put your finger on it. It might be something Ryan can help with. There will be a way of managing it."
