Spurs legend Hoddle: Bale will stay and help attract big names

Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle is confident Gareth Bale will stay this summer.

And he believes the Welshman's decision will help Spurs attract even bigger names.

Hoddle told Absolute Radio: "I say that because I think the lad would want to stay. He's just had a baby, I don't see him moving abroad at this moment in time. If I were advising him I would say 'Stay for another season'. I went abroad myself and it's not as easy to settle off the pitch and it's about settling off the pitch to perform on it and I just got a gut feeling that he would want to stay at least another year at Tottenham and if Spurs can improve the squad and get into that top 4, if they can sneak in there in this year then I think that will secure Gareth Bale staying.

"Good players attract great players and great players attract the outstanding players in world football and at the moment this kid is as good as anyone out there at this moment in time. The amount of goals that he's scored and he's not even a striker really, let's face it - he's played wide, he's played in that hole in the pocket, he's done an unbelievable job this season…"

Hoddle was speaking to Absolute Radio's Rock n' Roll Football with Ian Wright. Every Saturday from 5pm on 1215AM. For more, visit absoluteradio.co.uk/football
