Tottenham legend Paul Gascoigne is delighted they refused to sell Luka Modric to Chelsea.
He has applauded Spurs chairman Daniel Levy for keeping the Croatian at White Hart Lane, despite sustained interest from Chelsea - a stark contrast to the approach of Mike Ashley on Tyneside.
Gascoigne told the People: "Spurs put their foot down. They are a club who have nearly always kept hold of their best players.
"I really like Modric but Spurs is a fantastic club. They were in the Champions League last season and they can do it again."
