Spurs legend Ardiles in Falkland Islands' hospital

Tottenham legend Ossie Ardiles is in hospital in the Falkland Islands after a car crash, according to reports.

The former Argentina international is in the Islands with his former Spurs team-mate Ricky Villa filming an ESPN documentary about the impact the 1982 Falklands conflict had on their football careers.

The Mercopress news agency reports that Ardiles, 61, is believed to have been driving the rented vehicle when it left the gravel road between the British military base at Mount Pleasant and Darwin settlement, on East Falkland at around 9pm local time.

As well as Ardiles and Villa, five other people are believed to have been in the vehicle, including Ardiles' British born son, who is working with the ESPN production team.

Local emergency services were scrambled and the injured were flown by military helicopter from the accident site to the King Edward VII Memorial hospital in Stanley.
