Former Tottenham and England star Darren Anderton believes Wayne Rooney should stay with Manchester United.

He is convinced that Wazza staying is the best outcome for manager, player and the club.

Anderton told the Daily Star Sunday: "I hope Wayne stays because for me he's still one of United's best players. Maybe he's not happy there at the moment.

"But I would think David Moyes would want to get the best out of him and he is capable of doing so.

"If he played for a club like Real Madrid he would be unbelievable. There are so many goals and so much creativity in La Liga.

"But I don't think leaving United would be a good career move."
