Tottenham are leaning on Brad Friedel to win the battle for American goalkeeper Charlie Horton.

The People says Spurs have asked the giant 19-year-old for pre-season training and the 6ft5in shot-stopper is keen to join from the United States soccer development academy.

However Wanderers are now in with a rival deal and can offer him a quicker route into first-team football.

Horton will decide on is destination by the end of the month, with Friedel flying to America this week to study him at a training camp - and Bolton offering him a direct move.
