France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris failed to catch a glimpse of a valuable hint from teammate Olivier Giroud on Tuesday night.
After Spain's Gerard Deulofeu had won a penalty from Laurent Koscielny in the 67th minute, Arsenal striker Giroud was pointing to Tottenham Hotspur keeper Lloris' left as Manchester City star David Silva stepped up to the spot.
But Lloris opted to dive to his right as Silva slotted home to his left to make it 1-0 for Spain in Paris.

Everton's Deulofeu, on loan at AC Milan, added a second goal for La Furia Roja on 77 minutes as Julen Lopetegui's side got the better of Didier Deschamps' Les Bleus in an international friendly.
Deulofeu's first senior goal for Spain had been disallowed for offside before the referee used the help of video technology to learn that the player was indeed not offside when Jordi Alba played the ball into his path.
Early in the second half, France also had a goal disallowed by virtue of video technology when Layvin Kurzawa was offside when he headed Christophe Jallet's ball into the path off Antoine Griezmann who headed home from six yards.
