Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to secure the long-term services of Toby Alderweireld.
Sky Sports is reporting that Spurs are preparing fresh terms for the Belgian defender despite having more than two years to run on the deal he signed when joining from Atletico Madrid in 2015.
Alderweireld is currently sidelined with injury but it is understood that discussions will take place after he returns to first-team action.
Reports from Football Leaks on Monday suggested that the 27-year-old centre-back had a £25.4millon release clause, indicating that he could be lost for under the odds to any interested clubs, but the North London side denied those claims.
Alderweireld could be the latest in a long line of Spurs stars who have recently committed themselves to the cause, following the likes of Harry Kane, Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen, Kyle Walker, Eric Dier, Danny Rose and Dele Alli.
