Spurs hero Sheringham backing Fulham striker Zamora for England call

Manchester United and Tottenham hero Teddy Sheringham says Fulham striker Bobby Zamora must go to the World Cup with England.

Zamora was again the matchwinner for Fulham on the weekend.

And Sheringham told the Mirror: "If you had said Zamora for England three months ago everyone would have laughed.

"He started off struggling but he scored a goals and has been getting plenty lately and has come to the fore.

"I have seen Zamora at first hand and I think he is an exceptional player. He has got everything a centre-forward can have and he scores goals as well. You get on a roll feel like you are never going to miss and Bobby's on that roll at the minute.

"And what a great time to do. If you can do that and carry it on to the World Cup you'd be happy with that.

"He leads the line very well, is decent in the air, scores with both feet, is very aware and knows his position and I wouldn't be adverse to throwing him in. He wouldn't find it a problem.

"He is the same type of player as Carlton Cole and Emile Heskey. Capello has a few games to look at the situation so why not give him a chance. He knows what Cole and Heskey can do. Zamora has all that they have got and a bit more."
