Spurs have some fantastic young prospects, says Redknapp

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is excited about the talent coming through the club's youth system.

In his match programme notes for last night's clash with Shakhtar Donetsk, he wrote: "We have got some fantastic prospects coming through at Academy level - they are top of their league and into the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup against Arsenal. If they are good enough they can stand on their own two feet and play at any level. Just look at Everton, they have got several kids in their team and are performing well.

"I have always believed in playing youngsters if they are good enough and this has been a theme throughout my managerial career - there are a number of current top internationals performing regularly in the Champions League who I handed debuts to at the beginning of their careers.

"Dean Parrett is only 17 but he made his First Team debut last Thursday and I was really pleased with him, he didn't look out of place at all. If other youngsters can come in and equip themselves just as well it will be a great experience for them."
