Spurs have fingers crossed for crocked Alderweireld

Mauricio Pochettino suggests Toby Alderweireld will soon be back in action for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Belgian centre-half sustained a knee injury in the meeting with West Bromwich Albion around 10 days ago which forced him out of the midweek Champions League trip to Bayer Leverkusen and the weekend's encounter with AFC Bournemouth.

However, he could be back for Saturday's visit of reigning champions Leicester City or one of the following matches against Bayer or North London rivals Arsenal.

"We will see this week," Pochettino said of Alderweireld ahead of Tuesday's EFL Cup clash with Liverpool.

"Tomorrow he is still out. Maybe he will be available for Leicester, Leverkusen or Arsenal. He is improving a lot but it is difficult to know.

"It is a relief (that it's not as bad as first feared). Then we have the international break so after two weeks training he will be available."
