Spurs hand Berbatov pay-rise

Tottenham have handed striker Dimitar Berbatov a £6,000-a-week pay-rise.

Berba is now on £30,000-a-week, says The Sun, but top earners at long-term suitors Manchester United are on over three times that.

The striker will not rule out a big-money swoop in the future - although he also claims nothing will happen before Friday's transfer deadline.

Berbatov said: "I think this is unlikely for two reasons.

"Firstly, no one from United has talked to either me or my agent and, secondly, my club hasn't received an official transfer request.

"No one said United are not interested in me at all or in the price they need to pay for me.

"But what is known is there won't be any transfer this autumn.

"The Spurs board decided to raise my weekly salary, not by much but there is a slight raise."
