Tottenham's Kieran Trippier faces competition at the right-back position for England from Liverpool's young star Trent Alexander-Arnold.
However, the Spurs defender is happy with his own season and is ready to challenge for a place in Gareth Southgate's starting lineup.
"I knew I had to play well this season, try and get as many games under my belt to catch the manager's eye," the fullback said. "I'm just delighted to be here, to be part of this group and looking forward to the World Cup.
"You can never take anything for granted because in my position there's so many good right-backs, and in other positions also.
"Trent has got all the talent. He's so young and in a European Cup final already at his age. He's taken everything in his stride, played very well this season and taken his chances. He's so young, got so many years ahead of him, and he can go a long way."
