Spurs fullback Rose: Pochettino shocked me

Danny Rose was delighted to play in Tottenham's win at Manchester United.

The fullback thanked manager Mauricio Pochettino for starting him at Old Trafford while his future remains uncertain, describing it as “the biggest thing" the Spurs manager has ever done for him.

“On Sunday, I was nervous to see if I was going to be in the squad [for United] and I really didn't see myself playing," Rose told the London Evening Standard.

“I was so shocked in the meeting before we arrived [at Old Trafford]. I thought there was going to be a change but never did I think that it was going to be me coming in. I'm over the moon that I was able to be part of it.

“It was nothing to do with my fitness. I just felt that we won last week, had a very good performance.

“I just thought the manager would have stuck with the back line that played the last few games. It was a surprise and I'd like to think it's one that's paid off. Now we forget about Monday and me, Ben [Davies] and Kyle Walker-Peters go again and try to push each other to play on Sunday."
