Spurs fullback Davies eager to match past Welsh heroes

Tottenham fullback Ben Davies knows he has a lot to live up to when flying the Welsh flag at White Hart Lane.

After six years at Spurs, Gareth Bale was signed by Real Madrid for £86m in the summer of 2013. Cliff Jones also represented the club from 1958 until 1968.

"It's definitely something I look at, when you see how well they played here," Davies told the London Evening Standard.. "If I can get anywhere near where they were, I'll be delighted.

"When we see each other playing for Wales, Gareth always asks about how things are going back here and I'm sure he is always thinking about his old club, even though he has moved on to other things now.

"It's a testament to Tottenham to see how well he has done at Real Madrid. The stuff he would have learned from better players has given him a massive helping hand towards becoming the player he is today."
