Tottenham face being trumped by Liverpool for Valencia striker Roberto Soldado.

The London Evening Standard says while Spurs are hesitating to meet the asking price, Liverpool are prepared to meet the buy-out clause in his contract.

The price for Soldado, who scored 24 goals last season, will go up to £31m after August 3 but Liverpool hope to agree a deal before then.
