Tottenham and Everton are battling for Plymouth teenage left-back Dan Gosling.

The People says Plymouth have slapped a £2.5m fee on the teenager's head. Spurs have made versatile midfielder Gosling, 17, their next target as talent-spotting Damian Comolli looks for the best up-and-coming English players on the market.

But Everton supremo Bill Kenwright has also made a direct inquiry about the Devon lad, who is starring for England in the World Under-17 championship in Korea.

Gosling, who trained with Chelsea last season, is the only player in the side playing in the first team at his club.
