Tottenham have cooled talk of a move for Jurgen Klinsmann as new coach.

Former German manager Klinsmann would be a popular choice with Spurs fans if Martin Jol did get the sack.

But a club spokesman insisted: "Damien Comolli was not in LA and he was not in talks with Jurgen Klinsmann."

Klinsmann, 43, is a legend at White Hart Lane after scoring 30 goals in 56 appearances for Spurs before retiring in 1998.

But he is reluctant to leave his California home and has already rejected advances from Chelsea and the US team this year.
