Spurs defender Woodgate: Defoe would be world star at bigger club

Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate says teammate Jermain Defoe would be regarded as a world star if he was playing for a bigger club.

Woodgate was reflecting on Defoe's five-goal haul in Tottenham's 9-1 victory over Wigan.

“I think he’s the sharpest striker, probably in the world,” he said. “Put Jermain Defoe up playing for Barcelona and I’m sure he’d be as well known [as Lionel Messi].

“He can do anything he wants to do. He’s been outstanding, he can make a massive impact in the World Cup.”

At what point does he say a bigger club, just mentions barcelona, pointless post for a pointless site.

yes PLS PLS..dun get carry away, it is jus ONE match.

don't get your expectations too high, it's just only a match... ad we ARE notorious for our inconsistencies... players and club... i just have a strong feeling that Defoe will go goal-less for a period of time...
don't blame me... that's how i've learnt to feel after supporting Spurs for this many years. but i would like him and the rest to prove me wrong.
Go Spurs Go!!
