The Tottenham board are set to meet this week, with Levy under pressure from colleagues to cull Jol before their next Premier League game, against Arsenal on September 15.
And now the only thing that will keep Jol in the Spurs hot-seat will be if the club cannot recruit his successor, with Sevilla's Juande Ramos still the first choice.
Levy, who declined to talk to Jol after the game when Spurs were twice two goals ahead but lost their way after a series of mystifying substitutions, believes the game justified the club's clandestine trip to try to get Ramos.
