Tottenham held up Juande Ramos' appointment as new Real Madrid coach, it has been revealed.
The Daily Mail says Ramos would have been appointed coach of Real Madrid sooner but had to remain in England to finalise his compensation package with Tottenham and make arrangements about his children's school.
The £1.7million severance payment agreed, Ramos returned to Spain three days ago and began negotiations with Real.
Having reached an agreement with Ramos, Real were able to announce the sacking of Bernd Schuster and the arrival of the former Sevilla coach.
