Spurs compete with Liverpool for Birmingham whiz Demarai Gray

Tottenham have joined Liverpool in their interest for Birmingham City midfielder Demarai Gray.

The Mirror says England youth prospect Gray, 18, is attracting scouts from most of the top Premier League sides, including Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.

But the White Hart Lane club are particularly keen on the versatile attacking midfielder, who can play wide and through the middle.

However, the Anfield giants have a special clause allowing them to get first option and match any offer made by another club for the player, who has 18 months remaining on his contract and is valued at £2million.

Brendan Rodgers' Reds inserted the "matching rights deal" clause as part of the loan agreement when they farmed out hot prospect Jordan Ibe to Blues last season.
