Tottenham have clinched a £4 million deal for Cardiff City fullback Chris Gunter.

Gunter, 18, has discussed terms with Juande Ramos' side and should complete the deal next month.

Everton were also keen but had two bids rejected.

The deal should ease City's cash worries as they fight a £24m court battle with creditors Langston.

Bluebirds chairman Peter Ridsdale admitted: "We have to consider anything of this magnitude."

Gunter broke into the Cardiff first team last season and is the youngest City player to earn a full cap.
