Tottenham sports chief Damien Comolli has urged Jermain Defoe to sign his new contract.

He said: "As a club we like players who commit to a long future and that is what Jenas has done.

"We see Defoe as a big part of our future, we want him to commit."

Asked if the same applied to Martin Jol, Comolli replied: "It is not a question I want to answer.

"I don't think it's a relevant question."
