Tottenham football chief Franco Baldini is locked in talks with former club AS Roma this week.
Il Tempo says negotiations will intensify this week between both clubs as Baldini attempts to strike terms for midfield pair Miralem Pjanic and Erik Lamela.
Winger Lamela would arrive as a replacement for Real Madrid target Bale, while Pjanic would offer the creativity Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas feels his midfield currently lacks.
