A host of Premiership clubs are on red alert after David Villa's agent hinted he could quit Valencia in the summer.

"There are always lots of offers regarding David but this is something we will deal with in the summer," said Jose Luis Tamargo. "We will sit down and talk to Valencia then."

Tamargo denied that Villa would leave in the January transfer window. But with Valencia having failed to make the Champions League knockout stage and slumping in the league under new boss Ronald Koeman, Villa appears to be ready to move on.

Chelsea have watched Villa closely but never made a formal bid. Yet, with Spurs coach Juande Ramos likely to insist on improvements to the squad, the Spain international is an obvious target.
