Spurs chairman made FIVE calls to Mourinho agent

Tottenham have offered Martin Jol's job to Jose Mourinho, it has been revealed.

The Sun says Mourinho got the call as soon as Spurs learned he was out at Stamford Bridge.

Chairman Daniel Levy contacted his agent Jorge Mendes FIVE TIMES in a bid to persuade the Special One to switch to White Hart Lane.

The offer was £5million a year and Mourinho was told he could name the length of the contract from one to five years.

However, Mourinho had to reject the deal because of the terms of his Blues compensation package.

Chelsea insisted the ex-Porto manager could not work for another Premier League club for the rest of the season if he wanted his £17.4million pay-out in full.
