Spurs chairman Levy in Holland to close deal for Ajax's Vertonghen

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is determined to land Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen.

The Daily Mail says Levy was in Holland on Monday trying to clinch a deal for Ajax centre back Vertonghen.

Levy flew to Amsterdam to persuade the Belgium defender, 25, who is also on Arsenal and AC Milan's radar, that Spurs remain a club with a bright future, despite missing out on Champions League qualification.

Monday's discussions were the first of a number of meetings Levy has planned to ensure the club can still sign manager Harry Redknapp's top targets.
