Spurs chairman Levy facing red-hot Premier League meeting

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is facing a red-hot Premier League's shareholders' meeting on Thursday.

Middlesbrough owner Steve Gibson is considering turning up at the meeting in London after taking exception to the way Tottenham have conducted themselves during the winter transfer window, says the Sunday Mirror.

Gibson is enraged over Spurs' interest in Stewart Downing, which he believes was an attempt to unsettle a player under a long-term contract at the Riverside.

Sunderland chief Niall Quinn also hit the roof after they used similar tactics to unsettle Kenwyne Jones.

West Ham were furious when Spurs made so much noise about wanting to sign striker Craig Bellamy that he demanded a move.

And Liverpool are still considering making an official complaint over their interest in re-signing striker Robbie Keane.

One senior club official said last night: "Several clubs are lining up to take a pop at Tottenham."

A Spurs spokesman said: "No complaints have been made to the Premier League. Nor do they have anything to complain about."
