Spurs chairman Levy calls Berbatov for crunch talks

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has held crunch talks with Dimitar Berbatov and his agent over his White Hart Lane future.

The Daily Mail says Levy called in the pair as Manchester United stepped up their interest in the striker.

Levy does not want to sell Berbatov, whose groin injury is taking longer to heal than expected. Agent Emil Dantchev said: "It was a normal meeting with Daniel Levy and we have discussed the future.

"Dimitar is one of the players who can help the team, but he is a professional and this situation is not a children's joke. He has a contract with Tottenham and he recognises that without Martin Jol he would not be at the club."
