Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas admits he expects more from his new signings.
Villas-Boas refuses to use as an excuse that his summer arrivals need time to settle.
"I don't want to use the new players as an excuse for us not to be better or have more points. The reality is we have not been up to our standard.
"The defeats against West Ham and Newcastle were games we expected to win and that times would have put us second in the league.
"So we are paying the price for that in some ways. I think it is important for us to continue to give confidence for the players and I sure they will win through.
"But they have nothing to prove to me, the players I am fully aware of their capabilities.
"It's normal the focus be on the new players, we have made significant changes from season before.
"We are driven to make them work and make them successful. I am of the opinion that all of them have contributed in different ways, probably not matching peoples expectations for such an investment. But we have a full season ahead of us."
