Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood insists he will only select players on form.
But he defended his £26million striker, Roberto Soldado, who has scored just once in 12 appearances in 2014.
"He (Soldado) is not dying," said the Spurs boss. "He's just in a barren spell. He knows that.
"These boys know well that price tags make no difference to me. Reputation makes no difference to me. It's all about what they're doing on the training field and he's a good trainer."
