Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits he's been shocked by comments from Luka Modric in the Croatian press.
Redknapp believes even if Modric is forced to stay against his wishes, the Croatian will not throw the toys out of his pram.
Redknapp said: "While I appreciate his dilemma he's not the type of player to sit around and sulk.
"He's a committed professional, a joy to work with and has never caused me a single problem. I wish other players were like him.
"I'm shocked by some of the things he's supposed to have said.
"If we sold Luka now it would send out all the wrong signals, not only to the supporters but to the other players and our rivals.
"When you start selling your best players you might as well hold out a white flag and surrender."
