Tottenham boss Juande Ramos is determined to make Espanyol defender Dani Jarque his first signing for the January market.

Ramos had scouts in the stands for Espanyol's 1-1 draw with Barcelona on Saturday and Jarque's performance has convinced the Spurs coach to push through a deal.

Jarque knows Ramos from when he had a spell in charge of Espanyol and is keen to pursue a career in England.
