Spurs defeated Russian champions CSKA Moscow 1-0 at Arena CSKA to open their account in Europe's top flight thanks to Son Heung-min's second-half strike.
The win has the North Londoners sitting second on the Group E table behind Monaco, who they lost to in the opening match, and ahead of Bayer Leverkusen and Moscow which has them in with a strong chance of pushing for a Round of 16 berth according to the boss.
"I am delighted. First of all I want to thank the fans who travelled here," said the Argentine.
"The performance was good.
"The game was tough but we deserved it. We are in the race for the next round."
Spurs will next travel to Germany to take on Leverkusen on October 18.
