New Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep hold of Emmanuel Adebayor next season.
The London Evening Standard says it is believed Pochettino has been in touch with the 30-year-old, whose contract has two years to run.
If Pochettino sticks to the 4-2-3-1 system he used at Southampton, he is thought to see Adebayor as a strong contender for the lone forward's role. Rickie Lambert was highly effective in that position under Pochettino at Southampton and earned a place in England's World Cup squad, as well as a move to Liverpool, thanks to his performances last season.
As clear as Pochettino's ideas might be, the final decision on players will always be taken by chairman Daniel Levy. Levy is traditionally cautious about keeping too many players in their thirties, especially ones as well-paid as Adebayor.
