Tottenham boss Martin Jol says he will always try to buy British.

North London rivals Arsenal are set to field an all-foreign side this season, while Spurs have recruited England striker Darren Bent and Wales defender Gareth Bale during the summer.

And Dutchman Jol said: "I have played in England and I know how important it is to have English players in a traditional English club.

"We've changed probably more than 25 players since I've been here, but my spine has always been the same - English and Irish, and they're still here."
