Martin Jol insists he's strong enough to keep his job as Tottenham manager - even if directors are talking to potential replacements.
He said: "If people are nice to me I am reasonably nice in return. But if you are not strong, then everything can turn against you.
"You can have an argument with someone and those people are always the ones who greet me with big hugs and wet kisses.
Jol shrugged off suggestions he has been betrayed by his Spurs employers and knows the demands of his job are going to get even tougher from here on in.
He stated: "You have to do a good job for your bosses. But the pressure started before the season even began. And it will be there over the next couple of years, whether I am here or not.
"We have high ambitions at Tottenham. If you twice finish fifth, then it is only natural that you should want to finish fourth the next time."
Jol insists he has not lost any sleep over the board's clandestine talks with Ramos.
He said: "If we do well, everything that has happened this week will soon be forgotten. The chairman told me he was worried after I had been in charge for just two games. I had to talk to him and relax him. Now it is his turn to relax me."
Jol even claims he has made his peace with sporting director Damien Comolli, the man widely perceived to be leading the calls for a new White Hart Lane manager.
He revealed: "From day one we have had a professional relationship. In fact, I was worried for Damien when I first saw those pictures of the directors in Spain.
"I thought they were going for the Seville technical director because he is the best ... and speaks English!"
