Spurs boss Jol defends Defoe absence

Tottenham boss Martin Jol has defended his decision to leave out Jermain Defoe for their 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers.

He said: "Jermain did score in the cup but so did Robbie and Darren Bent.

"I do not just look at who's scoring. I look at leadership as well.

"You need players who lead the pack and Keane is an important player for us. He also got another goal today."
