Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has defended their failure to buy a new striker last month following Jermain Defoe's ankle injury.

Defoe had to be helped off after injuring ankle ligaments in yesterday's Prem win at West Brom.

AVB insisted: "We have enough to get us through. We create a lot in terms of attacking football.

"Remember there was a team who were world champions that play without a striker. You just have to adapt to it in the best way you can.

"We create a lot as a team. Our goals come from different sources and again Bale has done the business."
