Spurs attacker Kane hits back at critics: I'm not sensitive!

Don't tell Harry Kane he's "too sensitive" to lead England at the World Cup.

Gareth Southgate's decision to name the Tottenham star as his captain for next month's tournament has drawn criticism from fans who feel a defender should be wearing the armband.

But Kane, who deputises for Spurs in the absence of Hugo Lloris, believes he's more than capable of taking the role for the Three Lions.

He said: "I'm not sensitive at all!

"I think it drives me to be better, if anything. I'm a players who's had to prove people wrong my whole career – to reach the level I'm at now.

"Obviously the loan spells and just growing up and trying to break my way into the Tottenham team.

"So for me, it just drives me on – it makes me want to prove people wrong, it makes me want to work even harder.

"So yeah if that pressure comes in the World Cup I'm sure the only way I'll deal with it is to work harder than I am now."
