Shay Given says he's totally focused on helping lift Newcastle United away from the dropzone.

The goalkeeper has been linked with Tottenham and Arsenal, but said: "We are in a relegation fight, there is no getting away from that.

"Survival of the club is vital. So many teams are involved in it. We've seen what happened at Leeds. Something similar could happen here. I'm not saying it would but it could easily do that.

"The most important thing at the minute is to stay up.

"It is a difficult time. If you have a bad game as a player, the easiest thing to do is to say it is because the club is up for sale.

"It's not nice seeing Newcastle at the bottom. It's not nice for the fans. We are a big club who should not be down in our position. We have to stick together and get out of it."
