Spurs, Arsenal target Chamakh may stick with Bordeaux

Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh could stay with his French club.

"Normally, I stay at Bordeaux. After that depends on the president." said the 25-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Tottenham.

President Jean-Louis Triaud is optimistic Chamakh will stay put.

"The case of Chamakh is very special. He is a boy who has developed strong emotional ties with the club over a very long time," he told lequipe.fr.

"We will try to convince him to stay, by demonstrating that he plays in a favourable environment and if he is happy, he's happy every day.

"I'm not sure he would find the same thing in another country, including one that appeals to him, and in which he does not have many friends, although I know he is capable of achieving.

"I think it is likely he will be seen in the navy and white next year. At 25 years old, he still has time to leave. It is almost fatherly advice, but it would be better for him to stay with us."
