Spurs ace Dele Alli: Shelvey will be disappointed

Tottenham goalscorer Dele Alli says Newcastle United captain Jonjo Shelvey will be disappointed with his red card.

Shelvey was sent off early in the second half for standing on Alli during Tottenham's 2-0 win.

Alli said, “We knew it was going to be a physical game. It's not an easy place to come. It happens sometimes.

"I'm sure he'll be disappointed. it was important we stayed professional. I don't want to talk about it too much. I've had a few talks with the gaffer in the past [about his temperament]. I've been pulled up for my temper before but today we had to keep our cool. There was no need to react today."

Tottenham defender Kyle Walker-Peters told Sky Sports he learned yesterday that he would be making his Premier League debut.

"I found out yesterday in training before we worked on tactics and shape work. I was a bit nervy, nerves are good though. A few of the boys tried to tease me about it.

"Playing here, it's a fantastic stadium. Most importantly we got the three points."
