Sporting Lisbon have turned down a bid in the region of £17million from Swansea City for striker Islam Slimani, according to Sky Sports.
Slimani, who scored 31 goals for Sporting last season, has four years left on his current contract with the Portuguese club who have no intention of parting ways with the Algerian.
The Swans are in search of a striker in the transfer market following the departures of Andre Ayew, Bafetimbi Gomis, Eder and Alberto Paloschi this summer.
The Wales outfit, who sold Ayew to West Ham United for £20.5m this week, have already acquired the services of Fernando Llorente from Sevilla and they are also said to be interested in Borja Baston of Atletico Madrid.
