Sporting Kansas City's Ellis heads to Oklahoma City

Sporting Kansas City have sent Kevin Ellis on loan to Oklahoma City Energy FC.

The 22-year old defender will head to the USL PRO league side in a bid to further his development with regular first team action.

Ellis has already made five appearances for the reigning MLS Cup winners this season, playing three times in the league and twice in the CONCACAF Champions League which included the winning goal against Cruz Azul in the quarter-final first leg.

However, Sporting have opted to send Ellis to Oklahoma now that Chance Myers is back from injury with head coach Peter Vermes confirming the loan move.

"Kevin is at a point in his career for him to take the next step," SKC boss Vermes said in a release.

"Getting consistent games in Oklahoma will help provide this opportunity. We'll be tracking his development closely."
