Sporting Kansas City have released four players from their roster ahead of the 2011 MLS season.

The club has officially announced that they have cut Indian striker Sunil Chhetri, Greek defender Nikos Kounenakis, 2011 MLS SuperDraft selection JT Murray and Supplemental Draft pick Sam Scales.

Sporting decided not to pick up the option for 26-year old Chhetri, who played just one official match for the club, whilst Kounenakis was released by mutual consent.

The other two, however, were fairly surprising decisions after both players were only brought to the club in January.
