Sporting Kansas City brings in Mechack Jerome from Orlando City

Sporting Kansas City has signed Mechack Jerome from affiliate club Orlando City.

The 22-year old Haitian defender has signed a deal for the 2013 MLS season and goes to Kansas City with the blessing of the Lions after making rapid development USL Pro Division.

"We're delighted for him," said Orlando City Head Coach Adrian Heath.

"We have seen his gradual development and are pleased that he has moved on to one of the best clubs in MLS. It's certainly gratifying for us."

Jerome, who made over 30 appearances in two seasons with Orlando, added: "I've always wanted to play in MLS and I am very happy to have signed.

"It's a group of great guys and a good team. I feel comfortable here already. It was a great experience playing for Orlando City and I am thankful for the opportunity that they gave me by allowing me to come play for Sporting Kansas City."
