Sporting Lisbon have slapped a price-tag of £40m on West Ham target William Carvalho, according to the Sun.
The Hammers were hopeful of concluding a deal for the Portuguese midfielder after making a £36m bid for him, but it appears that the potential transfer is hanging in the balance now.
TheSun quotes a source close to the transfer: "It's only 50/50 now. They are holding out."
The 25-year-old, who was a part of the Portugal side that won the Euros last summer, has also attracted interests from the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal in the past.
